   Position Title: Museum Educator

 

   Position Description: The museum educator is responsible for working with
the members of the education department to assist with the development,
implementation and delivery of education programming for children, adults
and senior citizens. Background in programming for audiences with special
needs is a plus. The educator will also be responsible for a wide range of
detailed administrative duties. This is a full-time status position of 25
hours per week, with some evening/weekend hours as scheduled. This position
reports to the Director of Education.  Position is open until filled with an
anticipated start date of January 2016.

 

   Responsibilities:

 

   * Assists with planning, preparing and teaching programs for young
children and senior citizens audiences.

   * Helps organize annual student and adult art shows.

   * Creates and implements art curriculum for audiences of all ages.

   * Responsible for scheduling docent volunteers for all education, public
programs and group tours.

  * Coordinates mailing and distribution of brochures for school, children,
scouts and public programs.

   * Assists with the arrival and check in of all groups and other daily
operations.

   * Works select evenings/weekend public programs and participates in
program outreach to schools and community groups.

 

   Qualifications: Degree in museum education, education, special education,
or related field.  Experience teaching in a museum or classroom setting.
Background in working with volunteers preferred.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with social media is a
plus.  Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills.

Collaboration, flexibility, attention to detail and teamwork are essential.
this position involves some evening/weekend work.
