It is important to strive for and celebrate excellence within the museum field. It is how we, as museum professionals, improve our work and ultimately create more profound connections with our communities.

The Western Museums Association (WMA) supports furthering the museum profession through the Charles Redd Award for Exhibition Excellence and the Director’s Chair Award.

The July 15, 2015 deadline for nominations for both Awards is rapidly approaching!

2015 Charles Redd Award
Did you or a colleague create an innovative exhibit about the American West in 2014 or 2015?

The WMA is pleased to consider applications for the 2015 Charles Redd Award honoring excellence for an exhibition that furthers the study and understanding of the American West. The award is funded by the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University, and will be presented to the recipient during the 2015 Annual Meeting.

2015 Director’s Chair Award
A chance to recognize unsung heroes of our profession…not necessarily just for directors

Countless museum professionals make invaluable contributions to the field. They accomplish personal and institutional goals, mentor their colleagues, and safeguard the future of museums. However, they can go unrecognized for this important work. The WMA is accepting nominations for the 2015 Director’s Chair Award in recognition of these unsung heroes. The Director’s Chair Award is designed to showcase and acknowledge outstanding achievements in the museum profession. Please note that nominees can be working in any discipline.
