Has your museum or site been waiting for the right time to enroll in StEPs?

Now is the time because AASLH is offering a free bonus for organizations that sign up in May.

StEPs is all about daily tasks like caring for collections, planning programs, and working with a board of directors. With its self-assessment questions and Basic, Good, and Better performance indicators, StEPs will help you build a stronger and more vibrant organization. And that translates into more credibility, more support, and a museum that is a valuable asset to its community for many more years to come.

“Through StEPs, we developed a board skills checklist and written responsibilities, created more meaningful board meeting agendas, and undertook our first-ever strategic plan,” reports Suzanne Teixeira, President of the Totoket Historical Society in North Branford, Connecticut. “The sheer excitement generated by our StEPs project doubled our membership in the first year,” she said. The Society is receiving guidance as part of a StEPs group sponsored by Connecticut Humanities and the Connecticut League of History Organizations. Similar StEPs groups are forming in Ohio, Kansas, Illinois, and other states.

Join StEPs in May and receive your choice of a free AASLH technical leaflet bundle download valued at $22. For more information about StEPs, visit the AASLH website or contact me at [log in to unmask] or 573.893.5164.
