Full-time Assistant Director of Annual Giving
The Assistant Director of Annual Giving works in collaboration with the Director of Annual Giving and the Development team to advance the strategic priority of financial stability at The Montpelier Foundation by creating and executing a dynamic, innovative, national philanthropic plan for raising unrestricted and restricted annual support with a focus on gifts of less than $25,000. Working in close collaboration with the Executive Vice President for Advancement; the President and CEO; and the Montpelier Foundation Board of Directors, the Assistant Director of Annual Giving will be knowledgeable about Montpelier; James and Dolley Madison; the U.S. Constitution and American history; and Montpelier's role in promoting democracy. 

Duties include:
- Assist in development and implementation of long-term and short-term plans and goals for increasing annual fund support and size of Montpelier's donor base. 
- Assist in the development, management, and implementation of the Annual Giving strategic timeline of events, mailings, appeals, and social media programs. 
- Develop and design in collaboration with the marketing department Annual Giving collateral pieces, appeals, letters, e-blasts, and quarterly solicitations.
- Work with Communications to draft and develop copy for social media solicitations. 
- Assist in preparation and production of proposals, written materials and letters. 
- Assist Annual Giving Director with a variety of administrative responsibilities. 
- Manage cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a growing portfolio of prospective donors with capacity to give at least $5,000
- Make 5-10 significant personal contacts each month. 
- Develop special events for donors and prospective donors. 
- Help organize volunteer leadership to assist in screening and identifying prospects, hosting events, and soliciting prospective donors. 
- Complete call reports after visits/calls with prospects and develop strategies for closing gifts and effectively use fundraising software to record and manage prospects. 
- Work directly with President to draft, expedite, and archive stewardship materials. 
- Prepare or coordinate the preparation of prospect research, including strategically using wealth screening data to identify prospects. 
- Review and report on current and previous years' results, recommending changes and enhancements. 
- Collaborate with other staff to develop fundraising collateral and case statements (brochures, letters, articles, acknowledgements, webpage management, etc.).

Qualifications:
- Proven track record of two or more years of fundraising experience (preferably with annual fund experience).
- Bachelor's degree or higher college degree required. 
- Fundraising experience with a cultural organization or museum preferred. 
- Ability to understand, appreciate, and articulate the Montpelier mission and strategy, and the important role of development in executing both. 
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). 
- Strong organizational and administrative skills demonstrated by the ability to handle simultaneous tasks; detail oriented with a high level of accuracy. 
- Strong knowledge of development concepts and fundraising techniques, especially those related to annual giving success. 
- Willingness and ability to travel. 
- Ability to interact and work as part of a tam with diverse groups and individuals and to work alone. 
- Ability to work on projects under pressure, and to meet deadlines. 
- Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and BlackBaud fundraising software. Comfort or ability to learn SQL style queries in database.
