Preparator, Art Gallery, New York City

For our renowned Contemporary Art Gallery client we are seeking a Preparator.  The successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects of installing, packing, storing and transporting the inventory of works of art.  Duties include maintaining and managing inventory locations, both on and off-site; installation of all exhibitions at the gallery and other locations, including art fairs and client’s homes; daily maintenance of all gallery spaces; liaising with contractors, vendors and building staff; overseeing all mechanical and HVAC systems; other duties as necessary. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience as a Preparator, advanced knowledge of the latest art handling practices, systems and procedures and familiarity with inventory databases and Microsoft Office.  BA in Art History or equivalent and excellent communications, project management and organizational skills are required.  An excellent opportunity for a creative, detail-oriented, energetic problem-solver who works well in a team-oriented environment.  Salary DOE and excellent benefits.
