Temp Registrar (three-month period), Art Museum, New York City

For our world-renowned New York City art museum client we are seeking a Registrar to work a three- month period beginning ASAP. Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will manage all aspects of registrarial work for site-specific, visiting and permanent collection exhibitions. Duties include: coordinate all transport, packing and unpacking and condition reports; manage exhibition contracts, agreements and insurance; liaise with curatorial staff to assist with completing a comprehensive review of collection databases, conservation needs, fiscal records and collections management issues; oversee on and off-site storage; manage and process all gifts, donations and new purchases; create  catalogues, objects files, visual records and related policies and procedures; research new methods, vendors and systems; oversee all reproduction and copyright issues; update provenance, historical data and press as applicable; other duties as required.  The ideal candidate will have 5 years’ experience as a registrar with a major art museum, and excellent communications, organizational and time-management skills.  BA in Art History or equivalent required.  An excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional with significant collections management experience.  Please send resume with detailed cover letter and contact information for at least three references to [log in to unmask]
