The Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts (CCAHA) is
partnering with
The Revs Institute® to
offer training programs in collections care activities for the preservation of cultural collections. The programs are for staff and volunteers who have responsibility for cultural collections, such as librarians, archivists, curators, collections managers,
stewards of historic house museums and records managers.
CARING FOR PAPER COLLECTIONS:
BASIC CARE, HANDLING, AND ASSESSING STORAGE NEEDS
This workshop will give an introduction to best practices in caring for paper-based artifacts. Topics covered will include: handling guidelines, assessing storage
materials and special needs, prioritizing for treatment, and understanding preservation and conservation terminology.
This program is appropriate for those looking to develop new skills, as well as for individuals wanting to increase their knowledge about best practices in the care
of paper-based collections.

UNDERSTANDING ARCHIVES: AN INTRODUCTION TO ARCHIVAL BASICS
Proper archival procedures enable safe and effective management of collections. Participants will learn about the fundamentals of archival appraisal, acquisition,
and access; proper storage materials; and the most common preservation problems associated with paper-based archival collections. This program will touch briefly on processing, arrangement, and description.
Volunteers, historians, and those with archival responsibilities in addition to other duties may find themselves in the position of "archivist" without formal training
in the profession; this program offers an introduction to best practices in the field.

in-depth tour of the galleries and library, highlighting the historic importance of the automobiles and collections artifacts from 3:30pm to 5:30pm on February 10th and February 11th. Pre-registration is required and available
