*About the Organization:*

Castle in the Clouds is a nonprofit organization operated by the Castle
Preservation Society and dedicated to the interpretation and preservation
of the historic Thomas G. Plant Estate in Moultonborough, NH.  The Estate
consists of a mountaintop historic house museum - a country estate built in
1914 in the Arts & Crafts aesthetic;  the original stables or “Carriage
House,” which houses an award winning restaurant and an Art Gallery; and
135 acres of beautiful grounds with stunning views of Lake Winnipesaukee
and the surrounding mountains. Visitors can also enjoy 28 miles of hiking
trails on the surrounding property, as well as horseback riding and
carriage rides. Open to the public May through October, programs and events
are scheduled throughout the season and encourage visitors to further
engage with the natural, historical, and cultural resources of this
significant estate.

*Description:*

The Operations Director is a critical member of the Castle in the Clouds
senior management team.  The Operations Director will provide strategic
guidance and leadership to four operational areas: Visitor Services, Food
Service, Wedding/Event Rentals, and Retail Operations with the aim of
delivering an exceptional visitor experience and maximizing earned
revenue.  As a member of the senior management team, the Operations
Director will also serve routinely as the Manager on Duty, providing day to
day management of the museum operation.



*Qualifications:*

Ideal candidate will bring energy, vision, and resourcefulness to this
position. The ability to multi-task and make decisions in a fast paced
environment is key.  Excellent communication, decision making, and
leadership skills are required.  Must have a working knowledge of
non-profit or museum management principles and practices, as well as
experience developing and managing a budget.  Experience in a business,
food service, or retail setting is also a plus.  A Bachelor’s degree with a
minimum 5 years of work experience is required, preferably in a museum,
arts, or non-profit setting.



*Essential Duties and Responsibilities* include but are not limited to:

·         Direct supervision of Wedding/Events Director, Visitor Services
Coordinator, Executive Chef, and Gift Shop Manager and their departments,
including hiring, training, evaluation, coaching, and discipline

·         In conjunction with department managers develop annual operating
budgets, and then manage to meet or exceed approved budget performance

·         Ensure consistent deliver of Castle Concierge level visitor
service to all constituents

·         Act as an ambassador of the Castle Preservation Society Board to
all guests

·         Participate as an active member of the senior management team
including regular attendance at meetings to facilitate interdepartmental
communication

·         Act as Manager on Duty 1-2 days per week including at least one
weekend per month

·         Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient
operations

·         Approve departmental purchases in accordance with approved annual
budget

·         Oversee implementation of inventory and cost control measures to
maximize efficiency

·         Act as liaison between operational areas and other essential
organizational functions, including regular communication with the
 Curatorial Director and Facilities Director

·         Maintain positive relationships with vendors and contractors

·         Lead by example in regard to consistent communication and
collaboration

·         Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
