Over thirty years ago I was involved with a major exhibition on the history
of the Jews of Boston. To add ambiance to the scene of a kitchen set up for
Shabbat, we set up a looping cassette tape that played the hymn that is
most often used to welcome the Sabbath. At the same time as the music
played, the electric Sabbath candles lit up. It was triggered by a visitor
tripping an electric eye; the equipment for this was bought at Radio Shack.
We did have the tape mastered by a local media firm in Boston and, of
course, it had to be hooked up with the electric. It was incredibly
effective - many visitors remarked on it--and cost relatively little to do.

Hope this helps.
