Regarding barrier systems for your museum – you  mentioned that you looked into museum rails and found them to be too expensive.  May I ask what type of museum rails you are referencing?  The reason I ask – we recently purchased two museum rails systems for our temporary gallery and found the cost to be pretty low.  The flexibility appealed to us as well as the ability to use the system repeatedly for different shows.  I’m wondering if there is more than one system out there.  We went with MuseumRails – the POC was Michael Remorenko.  He is based out of Orange, Virginia.  His contact is 540-672-1890 if you would like to call him.  Of course, this may be the same system you are referring to and it may not be within your budget.  Thought I would offer it as an option in case you had investigated another type of museum rail system. 

 

If this does not work for you, maybe custom building something that is within your budget.  Do you have access to any volunteers with carpentry skills?  They might be able to create something for you that looks really nice.

Hello all,

Our museum is looking into obtaining more permanent barrier systems for our exhibits instead of just rope stanchions. We looked into museum rails which are great reader rail systems, although expensive. We've also looked into art barriers. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what we could use for barriers in exhibits?
