your collections.

The morning session, Understanding Patrons, led by LHS Director Stacy
Klingler, will introduce attendees to innovative methods for improving access
and outreach to patrons. Stacy has eleven years of experience translating
museum standards and best practices into manageable steps for all-volunteer and
minimally-staffed organizations. She chaired the American Association for State
and Local History Small Museums Committee from 2008 to 2012 and served on the
Association of Indiana Museums board from 2005 to 2009. Additionally, Stacy is
co-editor and a chapter author of the Small Museum Toolkit and regularly
teaches workshops on financial management, strategic planning, museum
interpretation and other topics. Before joining the Local History Services
team, Stacy was the director of the Putnam County Museum in Greencastle,
Indiana.

After a delicious catered lunch, Assistant Director Tamara Hemmerlein, will
walk through methods for collections care in Quick, Cheap and Easy:
Collections Care on a Shoestring. Formerly, as the Hoosier Heritage
Alliance coordinator, she implemented Indiana’s Connecting to Collections
project working with local history organizations on collections care issues.
Tamara serves on the Indiana Landmarks Western Regional Advisory Council and
has served on the board of the Association of Indiana Museums. Prior to coming
to IHS, Tamara worked as the Executive Director of the Montgomery County
Historical Society and the Montgomery County Cultural Foundation in
Crawfordsville, Indiana. Tamara wrote “Good Visitor Service, or ‘Put Down the
