Current Research from the Field:  Deadline is June 30th

MPMA has a new session this year aimed at researchers!  The session, Current Research from the Field, offers an opportunity for professionals in the museum and heritage fields to present their research in a session at the MPMA Annual Meeting. The purpose of this new session is to broaden eligibility of participants and to maintain MPMA's academic and research focus.

This Call for Papers invites proposals of 300 words maximum from students, emerging professionals, and established professionals who work or study in the MPMA region, on current research or work in progress on any matter relating to museums or heritage. The deadline for submission of proposals is June 30, 2014. Submissions will be anonymously evaluated by a panel comprising representatives of MPMA-COMPT, MPMA-AAMG, and others to be decided. Three proposals will be selected which, in the opinion of the panelists, will be of greatest interest to the Annual Meeting participants.

The winning authors then will develop the proposal into papers to be presented in the Current Research from the Field session. Notification of the results will be via email by 14th July.

Please submit proposals to Nicky Ladkin at [log in to unmask] as a pdf attachment to an email. Please enter "Current Research Proposal" in the subject line. The proposal should include a title but should not include the name of the author. It should be typed double-spaced and the pages should be numbered.

Snowmass/Aspen, Colorado

September 28-October 2, 2014

Aspen and Snowmass may have celebrity visitors and residents (the Goldie Hawn-Kurt Russell clan, Hunter S. Thompson, and John Denver, just to name a few). It also may have all the comforts ofa  world-class ski resort.  But it also goes easy on the clothes. Ditch the heels and go for hiking boots or sneaks.  Bring the fleece jacket, outer shell, warm shirt, T-shirt, your favorite socks and thin gloves. Shorts can be worn but bring long pants for chilly nights. FALL is THE best time and the most beautiful.
