It is crucial that you understand how ultrasonic humidifiers work. They work by using ultrasonic signals to atomize water into tiny droplets that look and act similar to steam but is cool to the touch. It is imperative that you understand that the nature of the source water goes entirely unchanged. If you input tap water, high in metal content, it will travel with the atomized droplets. If any organisms contaminate your source water, they too will travel with the water. People have made complaints about water spots appearing on objects surrounding their humidifiers as well, after extended use. This isn't to say you can't get proper units, but you must do plenty of research.
