Controller, Art Gallery, New York City
For our internationally renowned Contemporary Art gallery client we are seeking a Controller. The successful applicant will oversee all aspects of bookkeeping and accounting functions, including account receivable & payable; journal entries and general ledger; prepare and review invoices, financial statements and special reports; prepare annual and monthly budgets; liaise with accountants and bankers as necessary; manage payroll; track artist income; make deposits and manage wire transfers; manage expenses; other duties as necessary. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience in a controller role with a major art gallery or auction house, familiarity with perpetual inventory and foreign currencies, and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, QuickBooks, Artbase and FileMaker Pro. BA required; excellent organizational, time and project management and communication skills essential.
