As part of the Interpretation and Outreach team the Heritage Educator will help in the development and delivery of a varied programme of educational activities for persons of all ages and at all stages of learning that utilise the heritage collections in order to increase awareness in the history and heritage of the borough.

About us

 

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is keen to develop and to promote the history and heritage of the area. The council has recently invested considerable resources in improving Valence House Museum, Eastbury Manor House, as well as establishing a new Borough Archive Service Local Studies Centre. The Heritage Service has an Interpretation and Outreach team which works to attract new audiences through an accessible programme of formal and informal learning for schools, community groups and residents.

 

About the role

 

As part of the Interpretation and Outreach team the Heritage Educator will help in the development and delivery of a varied programme of educational activities for persons of all ages and at all stages of learning that utilise the heritage collections in order to increase awareness in the history and heritage of the borough.

 

About you

 

Alongside an education related degree or an equivalent qualification, you will have proven skills and practical experience of developing and delivering educational programmes in a school/college, historic house or museum setting. You will have an understanding of the national curriculum for schools and an ability to use both formal and informal learning techniques with children and adults of all ages.
