Every year Heritage Preservation encourages libraries, museums, archives,
historical societies, and preservation organizations to set aside May 1 to
participate in MayDay. This year, make sure your institution is prepared!
Any cultural institution submitting a brief description of its 2014 MayDay
plans or accomplishments by May 31, 2014, will be entered in a drawing for
disaster supplies donated by Gaylord Brothers.

Heritage Preservation is now offering its award-winning *Field Guide to
Emergency Response *and *Emergency Response and Salvage Wheel* at special
MayDay prices through May 31. David Carmicheal's book *Implementing the
Incident Command System at the Institutional Level* is also discounted in
celebration of MayDay. Join us on the Connecting to Collections Online
Community, http://www.connectingtocollections.org/ics/, on Thursday, April
17, at 1:00 p.m. (Eastern), when David will present a free, hour-long
webinar - *The Supercharged Management System: Applying the Incident
Command System in Cultural Repositories*.

For project ideas, information on prizes, and the book sale, visit Heritage
Preservation's MayDay site, www.heritagepreservation.org/mayday. Polygon
Group is the proud sponsor of MayDay 2014.

The Society of American Archivists (SAA) created the MayDay initiative in
2006 and promoted the idea to its members and allied organizations. The
following year, the Heritage Emergency National Task Force and SAA expanded
the concept to include all kinds of collecting institutions and historic
preservation interests.
