NAVIGATING GRANTS ONTARIO WEBINAR

------------------------------------------------------------

The Ontario Historical Society (OHS) is excited to announce the fourth webinar in its Strengthening Ontario’s Heritage Network (http://www.ontariohistoricalsociety.ca/news) series.

These webinars provide valuable professional development opportunities on topics directly relevant to Ontario’s heritage sector/community.

On Thursday March 20, 2014 at 11 a.m., The Ontario Historical Society and The Multicultural History Society of Ontario will host "Navigating Grants Ontario," featuring both Government of Ontario staff and experienced applicants as speakers. The webinar will provide advice and guidance to heritage organisations, museums and associations interested in applying for funding from the Government of Ontario, including:

* Heritage Organization Development Grants (HODG),

* Community Museum Operating and Pay Equity Grants (CMOG),

* Culture Development Fund (CDF), and

* Summer Experience Program (SEP)

If you have questions about preparing a grant application or using Grants Ontario, you won't want to miss our Q&A with Kate Oxley of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Sport! This will take place at the end of the webinar, and will be a great opportunity to get a "big-picture" sense of cultural heritage funding in Ontario. Connect with colleagues to form a guidance network as you prepare your application.

By the end of this webinar, participants will:

* Feel confident in choosing the appropriate grant for which to apply, have a clear to-do list for completing their application, and know what to expect throughout the application process.

* Know where to look and who to contact for resources, advice, guidance and support during the Grants Ontario application process.

Registration for this webinar is $10.00 for OHS and MHSO members,

and $15.00 for non-members;

Breathing Life Into Your Site: Developing Educational Programming and Tours for your Heritage Group or Institution

In May 2014 The Ontario Historical Society will host the fifth webinar in the Strengthening Ontario's Heritage Network series, focusing on how to start up educational programs at a museum or cultural heritage site.

A quick explanation: educational programs can include everything from school programs (and all the games included therein!) to public events (such as Doors Open Ontario). They are invaluable tools to help explain and interpret the history of an historic site to visitors, and involve storytelling, lessons, hands-on activities, games, presentations, and more!

Led by veteran museum educator Katherine Belrose, this webinar will give advice and guidance to those groups or institutions who would like to develop and begin offering educational programs at their sites. The webinar will include planning advice, recruitment suggestions, school/visitor outreach tips, and lots of resources!

WEBINAR FAQ

------------------------------------------------------------

What is a webinar?

A webinar is a training session done entirely online. Participants are sent a web link in order to join the webinar, which lets them watch a powerpoint, video, or webcam of the presentation while listening to the speaker. There is no need to travel - you can join a webinar from the comfort of your own home!

What kind of computer is needed to participate?

Most modern computers are equipped with the necessary components to participate in our webinars - you can join from your desktop computer, laptop, tablet or mobile device! In general, you need to have speakers and a moderately fast internet connection. You do not need a microphone to participate, as you'll just be listening in rather than speaking! For detailed information on the technical requirements, click here (http://support.citrixonline.com/en_US/webinar/help_files/G2W010003?title=System+Requirements) . To test whether your computer will accept our webinar software, called GoToWebinar, click here (http://support.citrixonline.com/en_US/Meeting/help_files/G2M050001?title=Test+Your+Connection+before+Your+Session) .

Why does this webinar cost

$10.00-$15.00?

The "Strengthening Ontario's Heritage Network" webinar series will consist of both paid and free sessions, so that we can continue to book expert presenters and attract audiences unfamiliar with the OHS. Your registration cost will directly support the continuation and expansion of this webinar series!
