Hi Julie-

Just a quick and brief side note to address your specific question re pet
hair. Dogs have two kinds of coats- hair or fur. Fur, having 2 layers,
shed. Hair, having only 1 layer, does not. Breeds that have hair and do
not shed and are thus preferred for being hypoallergenic include Poodle,
Bichon, Maltese, Yorkie/Silky, Soft Coat Schnauzer, Soft Coat Wheaten,
Bouvier, Skye Terrier, Briard, Afghan, and Primary Coat Spaniels (spaniels
with hair that needs regular trimming, with minimal to no shedding). Also,
many breeds mixed with these are also hypoallergenic- hence the popularity
of Doodle mixes, like labradoodles and goldendoodles.

If the dog contains any of these breeds, its more likely he/she won't shed
in your collection.

Good luck
