Tracy, There are a number of grant-writing workshops or other learning opportunities that are web-based as well as in-person. However, besides general concepts, the specific program that the grant is being written for is VERY important. I have seen successful writers in one specific area fail miserably in another discipline, all related to museum needs. So, if you know which specific types of grants you are interested in, you would be best served to find a training opportunity facilitated by someone with successful experience in this area. General experience may not achieve your goals. If your interests are in different areas, try to get separate training in each area. Good luck! The problem I have is that I am not working at an institution that needs grants and so I need a workshop or a course that can teach me basic techniques without requiring me to have one to work on at the time I take the course. I am trying to enhance my museum skills and this is one area I am lacking. Are there courses and/or workshops that can teach grant writing without working on one for your institution?
