JOB DESCRIPTION

The Museum of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking a Part-time Assistant Museum Registrar/Docent (26 hours per week). The desired candidate will assist the Museum in collections inventory and re-cataloging initiative and will work with Director and Office Manager to host Museum tours, answer phones, and other jobs as required, work with Museum Registrar, and Curator to enter accession and donor information on objects donated to the Museum, will correlate all items with the correct paper and database files.  If the files do not exist, creates them, will make sure all objects are properly marked (following museum standards) with new accession/library numbers, will Digitally photograph or scan each object and add images to the Museum’s software program PastPerfect and must have the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds and to climb a ladder.

 

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS

Experience working with museum collections a plus, basic understanding of collections management practices as well as experience assessing the condition of objects. Computer literacy and knowledge of PastPerfect essential; digital photography and scanning experience a plus. A bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies, History or job experience and two years of college course work in related field is preferred.
