FYI, there are many readily available mercury-free fluorescent options in stores and online.

They aren't safe to use in your home.   cfl's are hight UV emitters not to mention all the Mercury in the event of a broken bulb.   You should still be able to get incandescence for this special use but if you chose to use something else LED's seem to be a safer better bet.
