For our internationally renowned furniture designer we are seeking to fill
several positions in New York City:

 

Furniture Designer

The successful applicant will work closely with the Founder & Designer of
the company to develop concepts, designs and production specifications and
schedules for unique lines of wood and metal furniture, lighting fixtures
and accessories.  Duties include but are not limited to: studying,
researching and planning various styles of furniture design; finding ways to
improve furniture items already manufactured; keeping informed about design
trends and developments; selecting suitable materials, which may include
wood, metal, plastic and textiles; generating sample designs using
computer-aided design (CAD), card models, sketches or hard prototypes; using
software packages such as AutoCAD, 3D Max, Sketchup and Photoshop; preparing
detailed final designs; liaising with craftsmen or production department
staff, such as production managers, marketing staff and design engineers,
about the process of construction or manufacture; evaluating issues such as
pricing and fixing costs, fashion, purchasing, safety, materials and
manufacturing methods and techniques; using various tools to complete
projects from raw materials to finished furniture items; organizing plans
and schedules with respect to the availability of resources; other duties as
necessary.  The ideal applicant will be familiar with all aspects and stages
of high-quality furniture design, advanced experience with the latest CAD
software, and a proven track record with creating cost-effective,
utilitarian and aesthetically successful designs.  An excellent position for
an inspired, creative and energetic team player with an eye for detail and a
vision of the big picture. BA in Studio Art, Design or equivalent (MA
preferred); and a minimum of 5 years' experience with a major design firm in
a design position are required.  Salary commensurate with experience.

Sales Associate

The successful applicant will be proactive in selling unique lines of wood
and metal furniture, including beds, chairs, tables and lighting fixtures;
limited editions and one-of-a-kind pieces.  Duties include overseeing all
aspects of sales from initial client contact to closing; discussing designs
and concepts; developing and maintaining client relations; targeting and
growing new clients and markets; maintaining related databases; planning
strategic marketing and related initiatives; other duties as required. The
ideal applicant will have at least 3-5 years' experience in sales at a major
design gallery with a proven track record in sales and client development,
excellent interpersonal and communications skills and broad knowledge of
design and furniture history, trends and markets.  The ability to read and
understand shop and production drawings and work collaboratively with
clients and production staff are essential.  BA in design or equivalent
required.  An excellent opportunity for a goal-oriented, dynamic and
entrepreneurial professional. Salary commensurate with experience.  Please
