Senior Specialist, Furniture & Decorative Arts Gallery, New York
For our internationally celebrated Furniture & Decorative Arts Gallery client’s New York office we are seeking a Senior Specialist devoted to sales through outstanding client service. The successful applicant will work with the gallery’s President to build an international client base for furniture and decorative arts with a focus on expanding South American and West Coast US clientele. Duties include managing and growing a tripartite client base of major collectors, high-end customers and interior designers and other trade clients; anticipate the specific needs and interests of these distinct categories; source pieces for sale; plan, attend and manage art fair booths; catalogue and research pieces; create gallery displays and exhibitions; write and edit support materials and text on pieces; other duties as applicable. The ideal candidate will have strong general knowledge of Furniture and Decorative Arts with particular knowledge of Decorative Arts from the 18th – 21st Century; the ability to source museum quality work; excellent client development and liaison experience and skills; prior art f air experience with Palm Beach and San Francisco fairs a plus; and the ability to travel frequently to the London office and elsewhere. An energetic, hands-on approach and a high degree of aesthetic involvement and visual acuity are absolutely essential.
