Development & Marketing Officer

The Museum is looking for an education/arts non-profit development professional to provide charismatic, creative, energetic leadership to direct the organization's development and marketing efforts.  This individual will be charged with creating the department structure.  He or she will be expected to develop and implement strategies to increase the following: membership, foundation solicitations, major gifts, sponsorship, in-kind giving, grant and proposal writing, capital/endowment campaigns and increasing visibility.  This new position will report to the Museum Director.  This position is primarily development focused, with marketing as the secondary tier of responsibility.

Goals: Gain financial support to sustain the future of the organization and increase community visibility.

Fraunces Tavern(r) Museum is located at 54 Pearl Street in Lower Manhattan.  The mission is to educate the public and create genuine appreciation for about New York City history as it relates to Colonial America, the Revolutionary War, and the Early Republic.  The Museum was founded in 1907 by Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York, Inc.  Housed in historic Fraunces Tavern, the permanent collection focuses on 18th and 19th century buildings, period rooms, prints, paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, and manuscripts relating to or reflecting aspects of early American culture and history.  Also included in the collection are items associated with the history of the Sons of the Revolution of the State of New York.  The Museum sees over 25,000 annual visitors.


*         Duties

General

o   Construct and grow Development Department

o   Create, track and maintain department budget

o   Work interdepartmentally to achieve goals



Development

o   Fraunces Tavern Museum Membership Program- Grow membership, create and implement membership programs, and conduct direct mailings

o   Stewardship- develop and manage donor relations under the Museum umbrella

o   Solicitation- annual appeals, capital campaigns, major gifts, annual donors, members, non-members.  Ability and/or experience with crowd-funding

o   Grants - identify possible grants & work with individual departments to apply for grants that further mission and goals



Marketing

o   Museum Collateral- streamline design, expand distribution, and track

o   Social Media- maintain regular content (Twitter/Facebook/Youtube) & expand reach with other outlets, such as Pinterest and Instagram

o   Advertisement - Market research, expand current advertisement and track

o   Public Relations- Create and distribute press releases, manage media hits and inquires and manage Museum's monthly newsletter


Special Events

o   Outreach to attract rentals

o   Manage, schedule and oversee in-house special events, including filming

Requirements & Qualifications:

We are seeking an individual with a BA (advanced degree preferred).  Candidates must have experience working directly in development for an educational and/or arts related non-profit.  The successful candidate will be highly organized, believes in the mission of Fraunces Tavern(r) Museum, with excellent oral and written communication, and time management skills.  Individual must be able to manage multiple projects at once with a strong attention to detail.  Computer literacy, data management software and Microsoft Office Suite are a must.

Full time position.  Fraunces Tavern Museum offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.  Some night and weekend work required.
