One museum that I almost never see mentioned is the Museum of the City of New York (not the same as the New York Historical Society).  It's a bit further North than most of the major tourist attractions, but as far as history museums go, I think it is wonderful.  It was my favorite thing that I did in a whirlwind three days in New York several years ago.  When I was there they had an exhibit on fashion, flappers and NYC in the 1920s, and it was fantastic with really amazing artifacts.  I imagine their current exhibits, while on different subjects, would be of the same high quality.  My friend and I took the subway uptown and the bus back downtown, so we could see the Guggenheim building even though we didn't have time to go inside.

Enjoy yout trip!

Hello all:

My friend just surprised me with a trip to New York for a belated birthday weekend. I will have two days to do as I please, with one day being a bachelorette party for her friend…I am along for the ride.

In two days, what are the must do things? The things to do that are awesome and everyone misses? Living History site that is amazing?

I know I have to do the Statue of Liberty and Empire State as they are iconic…but what else? I want to make the most of my surprise! Oh and restaurants recommended other than Diners Drive In s and Dives receommends…lol

Thanks a bunch, I look forward to the experts!
