I recommend visiting The Met, The Frick Collection, and The Morgan Library & Museum. If you are going to be visiting several museums you might be interested in purchasing an individual membership through AAM. Many times you and a guest will get free admission with your membership. Here's the link for more details (http://aam-us.org/docs/membership-forms/museum-courtesy-discount-list.pdf?sfvrsn=0).

Have fun!

Thanks so much for the great feedback. I don’t know exactly where the friends apartment is, but I enjoy living history, and we should be in Manhattan somewhere? I love museum folk!

Feel free to send me a PM – I love being a tourist in New York. Do you know where you will be staying? That can affect the amount of time you have to do things.

Keeping on a museum thread-worthy topic… do you have specific areas of interest? You could spend a lifetime going to museums and historic sites – you could even spend a week going to just the “don’t miss” places.

I was just in New York for my honeymoon over Christmas. I have to recommend the restaurant we ate at before going to a show - Maria's Mont Blanc. It's a short walk from Times Square. The menu is Swiss, so lots of hearty dishes. The food was AMAZING, and there was so, so much of it! You can get a giant pot of cheese fondue for 2 that really feeds 3 or 4. The staff were really nice, too.

Also, if you have time, check out the Museum at FIT. It's a bit out of the way (depending on where you'll be staying and what else you'll be doing) but totally worth it. It's not too big - might take an hour to see everything - and it's free! The exhibit design always blows me away. I go every time I'm in NYC.

Hope this helps! Have a great trip!

Hello all:

My friend just surprised me with a trip to New York for a belated birthday weekend. I will have two days to do as I please, with one day being a bachelorette party for her friend…I am along for the ride.

In two days, what are the must do things? The things to do that are awesome and everyone misses? Living History site that is amazing?

I know I have to do the Statue of Liberty and Empire State as they are iconic…but what else? I want to make the most of my surprise! Oh and restaurants recommended other than Diners Drive In s and Dives receommends…lol

Thanks a bunch, I look forward to the experts!
