Registration is now open for the 2013 Building Museums Symposium. For me, this has consistently been the most useful conference for museums planning building projects. The symposium will be hosted at some of finest museums in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area February 17-19.

I lead a workshop called Planning for Sustainability on Sunday afternoon that attendees have found to be very useful in helping with preliminary planning for their projects.

More information is available from the symposium website:

The Building Museums® symposium brings together MUSEUM LEADERS, ARCHITECTS, PLANNERS, PROJECT MANAGERS, TECHNICAL EXPERTS, and all those who plan or implement NEW CONSTRUCTION, RENOVATION, OR EXPANSION PROJECTS for museums.

The 2013 symposium will actively engage participants in sessions and discussion about the process, promise, and pitfalls of museum building projects. The program will include expert presenters leading panel discussions, keynote addresses, behind-the-scenes tours, and workshops. In attendance will be representatives from institutions across the U.S., ranging from small historic sites under renovation and mid-sized art museums planning an expansion to large children’s museums building a new facility.

Any members of the following organizations may register at the Partner Rate:

	• Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums (MAAM)
	• American Association of Museums (AAM)
	• American Institute of Architects (AIA)
	• Association of Children’s Museums (ACM)
	• International Association of Museum Facility Administrators (IAMFA)
