Colleen,

I am gradutaing this month with an Anthropology Masters and a Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies.  As I look at job openings, I see more requests for masters in History, etc. with experience working within a museum setting. Whatever program you go into, try and make sure there is ample opportunity to work with a museum during your course studies. My program, for example, required you to do two internships in two seperate museums during the program.  Hope this helps.

To: [log in to unmask]

Hi,

I have recently begun looking into Graduate Schools. Does anyone know if Museums would
be more interested in hiring someone who got a Masters in Museum Studies over someone who got a Masters in History with an option in Museum Studies? I would really like to do the latter, but I'm worried that it will make it harder to get a job in the future.

Thank you,
Colleen
