Hi Jeff,
in the moment I am quite confused because we have some web resources saying nothing more or less that Peale's museum of about 1785 was the first museum of the American Indian(s). As I referred this immediately to the famous Charles Willson Peale, I thought it would have been his museum in Baltimore. But this did not seem to own Indian artefacts being a curiosities museum of mastodon excavations and other naturafacts. So, in the moment, I do not know if the source is right, or was mixing the different Peale`s museums.
Meanwhile, I also contacted Sue-Ann Prince in Baltimore.

Anyway, if somebody has copyright free pictures of such an early Northamerican museum (turn 18th/19 cent.) containing Indian artefacts, I would be grateful. Also for more detailed information on this collection which may have been only a department of a museum with another name.

Best

Christian
