Director of Secondary Market Sales, New York Art Gallery

For our renowned and rapidly-expanding New York contemporary art gallery we are seeking a Director of Secondary Market Sales.  The successful candidate will work with the Executive team to create a comprehensive strategic long-term plan for a department of secondary market works ranging from early 20th century modernism to contemporary work and including secondary market work by the gallery’s roster of artists.  Duties include: sourcing blue-chip works of art for private sales and gallery exhibitions; managing all aspects and stages of sales; development of client relations with private, corporate and museum collections; curatorial strategies for the introduction of secondary market work into the gallery’s program; market research and analysis; attendance at major auctions, art fairs and other secondary market sources; other duties as necessary.  The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience with a major gallery or auction house and a focus on the secondary market, extensive client contacts, a proven sales record and excellent communications, networking and organizational skills.  Highly competitive salary and benefits.
