Hi Kendra,
we have a working forge in its original location at the Willamette Heritage Center. It was built in the late 1800s and used through the 60s for the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill. We'd be happy to talk with you.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Blacksmith Forge

We are in the process of setting up a ca. 1920 smithy that was once part of a carriage factory facility.  The building has been restored and we do plan on using the rebuilt forge for blacksmithing.  The rest of the space will be set up for interpretation.  Does anybody here have a restored or recreated blacksmith forge at their site?  I would love to bounce some ideas off others, as well as inquire about certain things that would/would not be period appropriate.

You can respond to me offlist.

Thanks!
