IT ALL STARTED WITH A PRESERVATION NEEDS ASSESSMENT:
Phillips Library at PEM Renovation Project Now Underway

 

In 2007, NEDCC Preservation Specialist Angelina Altobellis conducted a preservation needs assessment for the Phillips Library at the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) in Salem, Massachusetts.

NEDCC's assessment proved to be a turning point for the Library and helped to raise $20 million from private donors, which will fund a 2-year building renovation, additional staffing, and a program of cataloging.

The Phillips Library at PEM also plays a key role in supporting other art museum libraries and will host the 2012 ART MUSEUM LIBRARIES SYMPOSIUM on September 20-21, 2012 at the PEM in Salem.
