IT ALL STARTED WITH A PRESERVATION NEEDS ASSESSMENT:
Phillips Library at PEM Renovation Project Now Underway

In 2007, NEDCC Preservation Specialist Angelina Altobellis conducted a
preservation needs assessment for the Phillips Library at the Peabody
Essex Museum (PEM) in Salem, Massachusetts.

NEDCC's assessment proved to be a turning point for the Library and
helped to raise $20 million from private donors, which will fund a
2-year building renovation, additional staffing, and a program of
cataloging.

The Phillips Library at PEM also plays a key role in supporting other
art museum libraries and will host the 2012 ART MUSEUM LIBRARIES
SYMPOSIUM on September 20-21, 2012 at the PEM in Salem. The symposium
brings together art museum library professionals from around the
country, providing a forum for a wide range of topics. For complete
