*Saving the Stones is a five-month internship in conservation and historic
preservation.   It is initiated by the International Conservation Center in
Old Acre and is a joint project of the MASA Israel Journey, Israel
Antiquities Authority, the Old Acre Development Company, and the Acre
Municipality.*

*Held at the campus of the International Conservation Center in the
inscribed UNESCO World Heritage Site of Old Acre, Saving the Stones
provides intimate access to the veritable living laboratory for the study
and application of practical heritage conservation methods and skills.
  Acre is an historic port city on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, and
is home to remains of world cultures including the Hellenistic, Roman,
Mamluk, Crusaders, Ottoman Empire, and the British Mandate. *

*The program includes three intensive months of conservation and historic
preservation studies (theoretical and practical documentation and survey
methods, and treatment planning through to application) in Acre, one month
of conservation in Jerusalem (in David's Tomb and the Western Wall’s
Tunnels) and one month of a final personal research or practical project in
Acre, during which the knowledge acquired on the program is applied.*

*5. Weekly study tours held by the professionals involved in their
conservation*

   - *To sites such as: Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv and Jaffa, Masada and the
   Judean Desert, Caesarea and the coast, Beit Shean and the Galilee, Golan
   Heights, Beersheba and the Negev desert.*

*Throughout the program, interns work alongside conservation specialists,
archeologists, and architects of the highest professional and academic
level. *

*Relevant for current graduate students and recent graduates of
archaeology, architecture, design, history, art, geography, and other
related subjects.*

*Generous tuition grants are provided, according to eligibility, by MASA
Israel Journey and the International Conservation Center.*
