14, 2012 This
position involves work of a professional nature serving as an
educator as well
as the outreach programs coordinator for the Museum Division. The
outreach
programs coordinator is responsible for the scheduling,
coordinating, record
keeping and general oversight of the Hands-on-History traveling
trunk program,
the Mississippi History on Loan film program, and the Traveling
Exhibit
Program. Duties will also include but are not limited to;
developing
educational materials and programs, working with teachers, school
groups,
conducting tours and coordinating and supervising volunteers and
contractual
staff. Incumbent works
under the general
supervision of a director.
Education and experience must meet one of the following
criteria:
Bachelor's
Degree from an accredited four-year college or university,
in education, Southern Studies, history, museum studies, or
related field.
Preferred
qualifications include:The
ideal
candidate will have strong communication skills (oral and
written), experience
in public speaking, ability to perform administrative tasks,
computer skills
including Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, Microsoft Office (Word,
Excel, PowerPoint
Etc.), and PC/Mac video editing experience.The incumbent must be able to lift 45 lbs., stand for
extended periods
of time, climb steps/ladders, lead groups, work outdoor events,
and conduct
