Ahh, The famous museum exhibit designer "Mr Murphy" created a lot of laws -- and one of them said, "Electrical outlets: It doesn't matter -- because no matter where you put them, and how many there are - they'll always still be in the WRONG place!" LOL . . . Seriously be as generous and as flexible as you can, but in addition to having outlets on the walls, they're kinda handy to have in the floor. When we renovated our building we installed four foor outlets, but they're ALWAYS in the wrong place), so for our free-standing exhibit kiosks we run power-cords up to the ceiling and plug them into a 110v outlet attached to our ceiling light track. :-) You also might want to join and post this question on the AASLH's "Small Museums" listserv.
