Gail, you've answered your own question. Not only in the short term, but
the long term. I assume you're talking about accession records? Digital
records have to be migrated forward with every change in
technology/formatting, and require something besides the naked human eye to
be read. Properly cared for, especially if backed up with another set of
hard copies stored in another site, paper is good for oh, another few
hundred years.
