The MHL is a consortium of medical special collections libraries with an aim of digitizing early medical texts and making them accessible and searchable via mechanisms in development. The Director also generally functions as an advocate for digital medical history and related topics within the humanities and social sciences. An exempt position reporting to the Director, Mütter Museum/HML, the Director of Digital Library Initiatives also conducts analyses relevant to strategic planning for the HML.
