The Membership Manager is primarily responsible for the
Responsibilities:
Membership Stewardship and Cultivation
• Interact with membership constituency in person, via telephone and email.
• Serve as point of contact for members regarding renewals, benefits and special gift opportunities.
• Develop, manage and implement a multi-year plan for stewardship, communications and special events for
• Establish and implement donor stewardship priorities including weekly phone calls to promote renewals, upgrade members and thank renewing members.
Membership Special Events:
• Manage the Neighborhood Friends and Friends events including the 18th century candlelight tours and holiday parties which are held annually in December.
• Serve as primary staff liaison to the Neighborhood Friends Steering Committee to coordinate the Neighborhood Friends annual picnic and other membership events. The committee meets four times a year in the evening with additional meetings as needed closer
to the events.
• Serve as primary staff liaison for the Birthnight Ball Steering Committee to coordinate the annual fundraising dinner and silent auction. The committee meets at least three times a year in the evening.
• Coordinates the membership pre-sale of the spring and fall Wine Festival and
• Coordinates the Neighborhood Friends Steering Committee Alumni Party
• Joins other development senior staff in serving as a greeter and host of the Music at Mount
Qualifications:
·
Bachelor’s degree and at least six years progressively responsible experience with institutional
advancement including non-profit membership based programs, donor stewardship, donor communications, and management of large events (100+ guests).
·
Ideally, the candidate also will have worked previously as a membership coordinator or fundraiser
and solicited gifts.
·
Superior verbal and written communication skills.
·
Familiarity with etiquette and protocol.
·
Available to work 25+ evenings a year including weekends.
·
Deep knowledge of and ability to conceptualize and direct a comprehensive stewardship, communications,
and events portfolio for members of
Mount Vernon.

A high level of energy, enthusiasm, and dedication to the mission and objectives of
·
A collaborative, team-oriented problem solver who can take initiative, set priorities, maximize
resources and deliver results.

An individual who is highly organized and able to handle multiple projects while maintaining
clarity of focus and flexibility in the face of organizational change.
·
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and the ability to learn systems/technology
used at
