The Living Heritage Museum uses two grants to reimburse costs of transportation and buses for school field trips.

“Any school with 25 percent or more of its students receiving free or reduced-price meals is eligible for the subsidy.  The McMinn County Living Heritage Museum will subsidize up to $150 per bus trip, with each school limited to a $300 subsidy. Grants to eligible schools will be awarded on a first-application-received basis and will be available until the subsidy fund is depleted. In addition, the Museum will continue to provide free guided tours of museum exhibits if a teacher requests guides in advance. The LHM does not charge tour fees to the McMinn County and Athens City K-12 schools, but teachers are asked to call and schedule tours.”

Hope this helps,

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Bus reimbursement for field trips

Greetings!  I would like to hear from any museum who reimburses or subsidizes bus/transportation costs associated with field trips.  What are your policies or guidelines?

Thank you for sharing,
