Hi Kathy: We just finished a concept for a Children's Museum project that used a Children's Book as it's exhibit theme."Violets Music" by Angela Johnson. The museum had to get permission from the author, illustrator and publisher before we could use any of the material in any way. I sent the author, illustrator and publisher a copy of my concepts and they approved it all as we used the basic theme of how this child loved music and found music everywhere. We were also granted permission to use the illustrators artistic stile of drawings and some of that will be painted on the walls to help develop the overall theme. It takes several months to get it all approved and some permissions come with allot of strings so make sure you get everything straight before any fabrication. By sending copies of my concepts to them really helped things move along. The illustrator like my concept approach to "Violet Music" so much that she volunteered to do an illustration. She liked the picture over the fire place (that we showed in the sketch) and decided to do an original as a gift to the museum.
