Hi Candace,

You might be interested one of our blog posts from a month or so ago, where we discussed the adopt-an-artifact programs we’re aware of in NC—these all exist to raise money for conservation of the specific piece. (http://collectionsconversations.wordpress.com/2011/12/09/adopt-an-artifact/)

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] "adopting" collections

Good morning – I am looking for examples of museum that have programs to adopt artifacts/works of art, primarily for conservation purposes, but fundraising also. What are the pitfalls? Does someone have a good procedure in place for doing this? History museum preferably, but I suppose it works in any circumstance.

Thanks,

Candace Perry
