Lawrence (Kansas) Preservation Alliance (LPA) Request for Proposal Purpose of RFP: To craft an education program on the National Register for Historic Places, associated materials such as presentation sheets and handouts, and to train LPA Board Members and other volunteers in how to best present this program. The LPA is soliciting written statements of proposal from individuals and/or firms qualified to craft public educations programs and knowledgeable of the National Register of Historic Places and how it functions in the State of Kansas. *Scope of Work* While listing provides a powerful means to protect natural and cultural heritage sites as well as significant financial incentives to property owners, lack of familiarity with the program and concerns about how listing may impact work on the property are significant obstacles that often stop individuals from listing their properties. LPA therefore seeks to hire an expert to design educational programs and materials to be presented at venues throughout Douglas County. The consultant will also train LPA board members and/or other volunteers on how to use these materials and lead education sessions. This educational program will encourage property owners to consider nomination. All products shall be provided in both hard copy and a computer format that is compatible with Microsoft Word 2010 or other agreed upon format. The final project materials shall meet the approval of both the Kansas Historic Preservation Office and the LPA.
