Effective marketing is never accidental but can sometimes seem mysterious. You know that in the competitive cultural marketplace, effective and integrated marketing, public relations and fund development strategies are essential to fostering strong public participation,
building strong community relationships and encouraging growth in sponsor and donor support. This course explores key principles and practices in both marketing and fund development and will strengthen your ability to:
- relate your organization’s mission and goals to the needs and interests of your community
- conduct research into consumer preferences and attendance behaviours
- analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that shape your approach to marketing and fund development
- develop a comprehensive, responsive marketing plan containing strategies for delivering and evaluating effective product, price, promotion and distribution methods
- build an integrated fund development plan that matches your fundraising needs with appropriate strategies and initiatives.
- create effective public relations and communications strategies that support both the marketing and fund development efforts of your organization

Date: November 28 to December 3, University of Victoria campus
Registration Deadline: October 31; late registrations permitted if space allows.
Fee: CAD $681 (credit and non-credit participation options) including a CAD$75 materials fee and a CAD$100 tuition/registration deposit required with each registration.
Instructor: Jocelyne Daw is a recognized pioneer and leading expert in the evolution of authentic business and cause partnerships and in the integration of marketing, fundraising and community engagement.
Jocelyne has over 25 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit sector and extensive experience working in the heritage and arts sector. She also served for several years as the Vice President, External Relations at the Glenbow Museum where she lead an
integrated marketing, fundraising and community engagement team. Most recently she was Vice President, Marketing and Community Engagement at Imagine Canada, leading the Caring Company program, the largest corporate citizenship initiative in Canada.
