Purposes:
The Church History Department is currently seeking candidates for the position of Associate Registrar in the Museum and Historic Sites Division. This position exists in order to assist the Collections Care Team in accomplishing the preservation of historical artifacts through work which may include but is not limited to environmental monitoring, storage and gallery management, inventory tracking, cataloging and standards implementation. Associate Collection Care Specialists act as advocates for collection artifacts and serve their customers by ensuring the Records will be available for future use

Responsibilities:
.
• Ensure the preservation of historical artifacts through informed actions including performing cataloging, photography, working with staff to identify specific conservation and preservation needs, addressing preservation needs through appropriate housing of collections, ensuring and participating in proper exhibit installation, etc.
• Assist Manager of Collections Care in coordinating the work of volunteers, missionaries, and, as needed, other members of the Registration team
• Preserve a record of projects, by documenting each project with thorough written reports of materials, and methods used, and photographs as needed.
• Develop self professionally by consulting with the Conservation team, reading literature, attending courses and conferences, and performing other approved professional activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Art History, Museum Studies, History, Anthropology, or Archaeology, Master’s degree preferred.
• Familiar with the "Code of Ethics for Registrars."
• Knowledge of preservation philosophy, materials, equipment, and methods.
• Must be computer literate and have good computer skills sufficient for writing reports and keeping records as well as the ability to learn new programs related to the work. Interest in material culture, history, and/or art history.
• Ability to communicate at a professional level in written and oral forms.
• Knowledge of and interest in preserving material culture and history.
• Capable of training and supervising volunteers and, as needed, other employees.

Worthiness Qualification:
Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints currently temple worthy.
