We must focus on what we can do uniquely well and tell those compelling stories that bring our community’s history to life. This year’s keynote address by Jean Svadlenak will suggest ways we can look at collections, discover the fascinating stories they tell, and provide tips for planning exhibits that help visitors connect with their community’s unique story, places, and events. Jean Svadlenak brings 35 years of museum experience to her work as a consultant in documenting, preserving, and interpreting community history. Her most recent project is the new exhibition, *Americans by Choice: The Story of Immigration & Citizenship in Kansas* commissioned by the U.S. District Court at the Robert J. Dole Courthouse in Kansas City, Kansas. Prior to establishing a consulting practice, Jean served as curator, then president at the Kansas City Museum. During her 11-year tenure, she coordinated all curatorial and exhibition activities, and while she was president the museum achieved accreditation from the American Association of Museums. *1:15 p.m. —Preservation 101: Common Sense Preservation for Objects and Archival Materials* ▪ Shelly Croteau, *Assistant State Archivist, Missouri* *State Archives, Jefferson City*; Audrey Gayou,*Collections Manager, University of Missouri Museum of Anthropology, Columbia*; Linda Endersby,*Director, Missouri State Museum, Jefferson City* *2:45 p.m. — Practical Exhibitions: Developing High Quality, Cost-Effective Exhibit Projects* ▪ Alisha Cole, *Arcadia Consulting, Kansas City*; John Deis, *Caldwell County Historical Society, Hamilton* *4 p.m. — Townhall Discussion* * * Debra Loguda-Summers, Curator Museum of Osteopathic Medicine, SM and International Center for Osteopathic History President Missouri Association for Museums and Archives 800 West Jefferson Kirksville, MO 63501 Phone: 660 626 2359 Fax: 660 626 2984 Toll Free: 1 866 626 ATSU Ext. 2359 [log in to unmask] www.atsu.edu/museum Check out the collection online at http://snom.pastperfect-online.com/ <http://snom.pastperfect-online.com/> A.T.
