Job Posting: Exhibits Preparator for City of Las Cruces Museum System (Las Cruces, New Mexico) Salary Range: $15.74 - $23.61 Hourly Closing Date/Time: Mon. 07/25/11 11:59 PM Mountain Time Duties and Responsibilities: * Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled museum exhibit maintenance and repair tasks using carpentry, painting, masonry, electrical and mechanical skills; operates hand and power tools; reads and interprets work orders; identifies material and equipment needs for each assigned project, and orders supplies; prepares written reports as required and documents the work performed. * Performs a variety of skilled building trades work in the fabrication, installation, replacement and repair of museum exhibits in buildings and facilities; mounts, mats, and frames photographs, prints, drawings and paintings; hangs, displays and illuminates artwork and exhibits as directed; utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; * Designs graphics using provided computer software, operates large format printer, vinyl plotter and/or laminator. May update museum web pages as assigned. * Cleans work area of debris; disposes of all material in accordance with City policy and safety standards; organizes and maintains work shop; assists with update and maintenance of website. * Checks buildings for unsafe conditions; clears hazards and dangerous areas; reports safety conditions and security issues.
