Hello everyone,

I'm a museum professional who's in the process of relocating to the Portland, Oregon area.  Historically, my focus has been on exhibition design and project/program management.  In more recent years, I have delved deeper into interpretation and communications. I would very much like to stay in my chosen career area, but am told (by locals) that Portland is a a very difficult job market at best (one of them used the term 'wasteland') and that jobs in the cultural sector are rare even in good economy years. We love the city enough that I am willing to 'go back to my roots' and do something else, such a graphic design for commercial pursuits, but that's a last resort.

I was wondering if anyone here is in the Portland area and would be willing to meet with me to talk about the museum sector here and give me some insights about that?  No expectations on my end, just informational, and it would be tremendously appreciated.

Kind regards,

~William
