Museum Teachers

The National Building Museum seeks applications for part-time Museum Teachers to work 9-22 hours a week during the week and/or on the weekends for the 2011-2012 school year. Museum Teachers teach school programs, scout days, and birthday parties. Qualifications include:

1)      Degree in education, museum education, or teaching certificate and/or two or more years' experience teaching in a museum or classroom;

2)      Enthusiasm for working with children;

3)      Excellent oral communication skills;

4)      Willingness to be flexible;

5)      Knowledge of architecture, design, civil engineering, and the built environment is a plus.



Paid orientation and training will begin in mid-September 2011. Candidates must be able to commit to the position for the duration of the school year through June 8, 2012. School Programs Representative/Museum Teacher

The National Building Museum seeks applications for a part-time School Programs Representative/Museum Teacher to work 15-30 hours a week during the 2011-2012 school year.  The position includes 10-15 hours of administrative work to begin on July 25, 2011 to be conducted three-five afternoons a week.  Administrative work includes managing school program registrations: corresponding with teachers, processing payments, and tracking attendance. An additional 5-15 hours of teaching, beginning mid-September, would be conducted weekdays and/or weekends, teaching school programs, scout days, and birthday parties.
