We had a local metal worker construct a sort of prison bar arrangement out
of steel tubing between some existing industrial shelving bays. It worked
out very well, and wasn't too expensive given that he was custom building it
for us. We were able to divide the bay into about 5 sections, something
similar to the prefab art storage racks you see in the some catalogs. We
were able to accommodate even very large headboards in this arrangement.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] storage solution for headboards, etc.?

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone out there have a great method for storing large objects that
cannot support themselves upright such as headboards, footboards, detached
dresser mirrors, etc.? We are considering building an a structure in-house
that would consist of a platform with uprights, somewhat like a painting
cart on a large scale. If anyone has already solved this issue your input
would be appreciated! Photos would be a big help too. Thanks!
